Besides using technology to collect, collate, and disseminate trade information domestically, JOBS is establishing trade linkages in Bangladesh and abroad, facilitating training in the areas of trade, commerce, and informatics, continuously augmenting its information base, and providing inputs to Bangladeshi entrepreneurs in the area of strategic trade promotion

More specifically, JOBS is pursuing the following activities:

• Creating databases and disseminating information on trade and commerce nationally and internationally to promote exports and facilitate imports. The databases broadly cover regulatory and promotional commercial activities in domestic and international trade;

• Collecting and disseminating information on and organizing profiles of countries and clients of interest to Bangladeshi entrepreneurs;

• Establishing linkages with export promotional bodies and export regulatory bodies to collect and disseminate information on trade, commerce, and related matters;

• Establishing linkages with the commercial offices of Bangladesh’s diplomatic missions abroad and also foreign missions in Bangladesh to collect and disseminate information of interest to Indian traders and exporters;

• Creating an information base on all types of marketing intelligence and related data of interest to the exporting/importing community in Bangladesh and abroad;

• Establishing a methodology for the collection and dissemination of information related to international trade and commerce;

• Organizing training in trade and commerce informatics;

• Keeping track of market conditions within the country and abroad that may be of relevance to trade and commerce;

• Maintaining and analyzing a database on trade policies, trade regulations, and trade agreements with various countries and their impact on Bangladesh’s international trade;

• Facilitating market and commodity surveys of relevance to internal and external trade activities;

• Organizing seminars, workshops, training, and conferences related to emerging technologies in trade information and other issues of interest;

• Building a modern classified library of books, periodicals, and brochures related to trade and commerce and publishing papers, periodicals, reports, articles, and other literature bearing on trade and industry;

• Creating and augmenting specialized information systems and a strong interactive information base for trade promotional organizations; and

• Promoting understanding, mutual cooperation, and the exchange of data with foreign trade development boards, trade councils, chambers of commerce, trade institutes, and trade centers for the benefit of Bangladeshi exporters and business entrepreneurs.
